Gesine Danckwart

Gesine Danckwart was born near Lübeck in 1969 and grew up there. She studied theatre studies and worked at theatres in Vienna, Mülheim and Berlin. In Berlin-Moabit, she founded a venue for independent theatre. Danckwart worked as an author and director on film and theatre projects. Her plays were staged at theatres in Germany and abroad and adapted as radio plays. Her work included the multi-year theatre and publishing project “Ping Tan Tales” about China, which was presented at Expo Shanghai in 2010 after stops in Berlin, Hamburg and Beijing.
