Najat Abed Alsamad is a Syrian writer and gynecologist. Born in Suwayda, Syria, she studied Arabic language and literature at the University of Damascus. Since 1994, she has published several novels and short-story collections with publishers in Syria, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. Her articles, studies, and research papers have also appeared in Arabic newspapers, on websites, and through think tanks. In 2018, she received the Katara Prize for Published Novels for her novel “La Ma'a Yarwiha” (“No Water Can Quench Her Thirst”).
