Dennis O´Neil

Dennis O’Neil (1939–2020) was an American comics writer and editor. Before entering the comics business in 1965, he worked as a newspaper journalist. His work on BATMAN, DETECTIVE COMICS, GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW and THE QUESTION helped shape American superhero comics in the 1970s and 1980s. In collaboration with Neal Adams, he also addressed social issues such as drug abuse and pollution. For BATMAN, O’Neil restored a darker tone and introduced characters including Ra’s al Ghul, Azrael and Leslie Thompkins. He also wrote comics featuring THE SHADOW, Superman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man and Spider-Man, as well as novelizations of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
