Alan Grant

Alan Grant was a Scottish comic-book writer and editor. From 1967 onward, he wrote and edited numerous British comics and worked for decades on the science-fiction magazine 2000 AD, helping shape the adventures of Judge Dredd. In the late 1980s, he entered the US market with the DC miniseries Outcasts, co-written with John Wagner. Grant became particularly known as a Batman writer; the series Batman: Shadow of the Bat was created specifically for his work. He also wrote Lobo, L.E.G.I.O.N., and The Demon, and contributed to several crossover projects. He helped establish the characters Bane, Zsasz, the Ventriloquist, and Anarky in the Batman universe. Grant died in 2022.
