Brian Bolland

Brian Bolland was born in 1951 in Butterwick, England, and studied graphic design. In the early 1970s, he entered the professional comics scene through British underground magazines and fanzines. His early work included episodes of the newspaper strip “Jeff Hawke”; he became widely known as an artist on “Judge Dredd” in the British magazine “2000 AD.” From the late 1970s onward, Bolland also worked for American publishers. His best-known work includes “Batman: The Killing Joke” and “Camelot 3000,” written by Mike W. Barr. He also wrote and illustrated original stories and produced numerous covers for titles including “The Invisibles,” “Animal Man,” “Wonder Woman,” and “Tank Girl.” Bolland received several Eisner and Harvey Awards as well as the Inkpot Award. His art was collected in the 2006 book “The Art of Brian Bolland”.
