Carsten Steenbergen was born in Düsseldorf in 1973. He holds a degree in public administration and worked as a software support specialist and programmer. J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” introduced him to speculative fiction at an early age; his work includes elements of fantasy, historical fiction and crime. Steenbergen wrote audio-drama scripts, short stories and novels spanning speculative fiction, thrillers and the surreal. He was nominated for the German Phantastik Prize in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and for the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in the Best Story category in 2012. His novels include “Teufelsacker”, the espionage thriller series “Crane” and its novel adaptation “Mad Rush”. Steenbergen was a founding member of the Phantastik-Autoren-Netzwerk (PAN).
