Bernd Perplies (born 1977 in Wiesbaden, Germany) is a German author and translator of speculative fiction. He studied film and literary studies as well as German studies in Mainz, and initially worked at the German Film Institute in Frankfurt am Main. His debut novel, “Tarean – Sohn des Fluchbringers,” was published in 2008. His notable works include the “Tarean,” “Magierdämmerung,” and “Carya” trilogies, as well as the “Imperium der Drachen” saga. In 2015, he received the German Phantastik Prize for “Imperium der Drachen: Das Blut des Schwarzen Löwen.” He also contributed to “Perry Rhodan NEO” and co-wrote the “Star Trek – Prometheus” trilogy with Christian Humberg. His interest in fantasy and science-fiction role-playing games began in the late 1980s and influenced his writing.
