Stevie Schmiedel

Stevie Meriel Schmiedel (born 1971) is a German-British cultural scholar specializing in gender studies. She holds a doctorate and taught gender studies at universities in Hamburg. In 2012, she founded Pinkstinks, an educational and campaigning organization addressing sexism in the media, advertising, and everyday life. Her initiatives include the campaigns “Not Heidi’s Girl,” “Schule gegen Sexismus,” and “Werbemelder*in.” Schmiedel has also worked as a consultant, lecturer, and media expert on the prevention of sexism.
