Petra Gerster

Petra Gerster (born 1955) is a German journalist, television presenter and author. She studied Slavic and German studies and worked as an editor for the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and the WDR. From 1989 she worked for ZDF, initially as an editor and presenter of the women’s affairs program »Mona Lisa«, and from 1998 to May 2021 as presenter of the »heute« news. Her journalism awards include the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize for Television Journalism, the Goldene Kamera and the Bambi. In 2020, the German Association of Women Journalists awarded her the Hedwig Dohm certificate for her lifetime achievement. She co-authored several books with her husband, Christian Nürnberger, including »Vermintes Gelände – Identitätspolitik und die Folgen« and »Der rebellische Mönch, die entlaufene Nonne und der größte Bestseller aller Zeiten«.
