Jutta Allmendinger

Jutta Allmendinger (born 1956 in Mannheim) is a German sociologist. She studied sociology, social psychology, economics and statistics in Mannheim and Wisconsin, and earned her doctorate at Harvard University. After working at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Harvard Business School, she became professor of sociology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1992 and director of the Institute for Employment Research in Nuremberg. In 2007, she took up a professorship in educational sociology and labor-market research at Humboldt University of Berlin and became president of the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. Her honors include the Communicator Award, the Schader Prize and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, First Class. Her books include »Frauen auf dem Sprung« and »Verschenkte Potenziale«.
