Stephan Harbarth

Stephan Harbarth (born 1971) is a German jurist. After studying law, he earned a doctorate in 1998 and a Master of Laws from Yale Law School in New Haven, Connecticut, in 2000. He worked as a lawyer and served as a member of the German Bundestag. In November 2018, he became chair of the First Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court, and in June 2020 he was elected president of the court. He has also served as an honorary professor at Heidelberg University.
