Ottmar Edenhofer became a professor at Technische Universität Berlin in 2008, specializing in the economics of climate change. He also worked as chief economist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and as director of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change. For his scientific work, he received the German Environmental Award from the German Federal Environmental Foundation. Edenhofer was a member of the Jesuit order from 1987 to 1994.
