Claudius Seidl

Claudius Seidl, born in Würzburg in 1959, is a German journalist and film critic. He studied theater, communications, politics and economics in Munich, as well as film history at the Munich Film Museum with Enno Patalas. From 1983 onward, he wrote film criticism for publications including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit and Tempo. From 1990 to 1996, he was a culture editor and section head at Der Spiegel, followed by a position as deputy culture editor at Süddeutsche Zeitung. He headed the culture section of Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung from 2001 to 2020. His books include The German Film of the Fifties, Billy Wilder, Das wilde Leben, written with Uschi Obermaier, Hier spricht Berlin and Bilder im Kopf, written with Michael Ballhaus.
