Micha Brumlik

Micha Brumlik (born 1947) is a German scholar of education and author. He studied education and philosophy and initially taught in Hamburg and Heidelberg. From 2000 to 2013, he was Professor of General Education at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main; from 2000 to 2005, he also directed the Fritz Bauer Institute, a research and documentation center on the history and impact of the Holocaust. From 2013, he was a senior professor at the Selma Stern Center for Jewish Studies Berlin-Brandenburg and, from 2017, also at Goethe University Frankfurt. He received the Hermann Cohen Medal in 2003 and the Buber-Rosenzweig Medal in 2016. His publications include “Learning from Catastrophes,” “Sigmund Freud: The Thinker of the Twentieth Century,” “Critique of Zionism,” and “Luther, Rosenzweig and Scripture.”
