Ronya Othmann, born in Munich in 1993, is a German author of Kurdish-Yezidi heritage. She has published poetry, prose and essays and has worked as a journalist. Her works include the novel Die Sommer (2020), the poetry collection die verbrechen (2021) and the novel Vierundsiebzig. Othmann has received, among other honors, the open mike Poetry Prize, the MDR Literature Prize and the Caroline Schlegel Essay Prize. Die Sommer won the Mara-Cassens Prize, while die verbrechen received the Orphil Debut Prize. Vierundsiebzig was nominated for the German Book Prize and received the Düsseldorf Literature Prize and the Erich Loest Prize.
