Birgit Weiler

Birgit Weiler (born 1958 in Duisburg, Germany) is a theologian and a member of the Missionary Medical Sisters. She joined the order in 1978 and studied theology in Bochum, Frankfurt am Main, and Tübingen. From 1988 onward, she worked in teaching and pastoral ministry in Peru. Beginning in 1995, she taught fundamental theology at the Jesuit university later known as the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya in Lima. She received her doctorate in 2011 from the Catholic Faculty of the Goethe University Frankfurt. Her work also included the inculturation of pastoral ministry and intercultural relations with Indigenous peoples in the Peruvian Amazon.
