Gunda Werner

Gunda Werner (born 1971) is a German theologian. In 2015, she became the first woman to qualify as a professor at the Catholic Theological Faculty of Ruhr University Bochum. After serving as a substitute professor in Bonn and Bochum and as a junior professor in Tübingen, she became Professor of Dogmatics at the University of Graz in 2018, where she also headed the Institute of Systematic Theology and Liturgical Studies. She has held visiting fellowships at institutions including Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Boston College, and Fordham University in New York. Her research focuses on fundamental theology, dogmatics, the history of dogma, Judith Butler, analyses of power, and Michel Foucault.
