Armin Grunwald

Armin Grunwald (born 1960) is a physicist and philosopher. He studied physics, mathematics and philosophy, earned a doctorate in physics and completed a habilitation in philosophy. After working in software engineering and holding positions at the German Aerospace Center and the European Academy for the Study of the Consequences of Scientific and Technological Developments, he took over the management of the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) in Karlsruhe in 1999. In 2002, he also became head of the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag. Grunwald was a professor of technology philosophy and technology ethics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. His fields of work include technology assessment, technology philosophy, technology ethics and sustainable development.
