Wolfgang Welsch is a German philosopher and professor emeritus of philosophy. Until 2012, he taught theoretical philosophy at Friedrich Schiller University Jena; he also held teaching positions at, among others, the Free University and Humboldt University of Berlin, as well as at the universities of Bamberg, Stanford, and Emory. His research focuses include anthropology, epistemology, and philosophical aesthetics. He received the Max Planck Research Award in 1992 and the Premio Internazionale d'Estetica in 2016. His publications include “Vernunft. Die zeitgenössische Vernunftkritik und das Konzept der transversalen Vernunft” (“Reason: Contemporary Criticism of Reason and the Concept of Transversal Reason”).
