Alfred Nordmann (PhD) is a philosopher and historian of science. After an extended period at the University of South Carolina, where he taught from 1988 to 2002 and became Professor of Philosophy, History and Sociology of Science in 1996, he moved to the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2002. His academic work there has focused on the philosophy and history of science and technoscience. In 2013, he took over as editor of the book series “History and Philosophy of Technoscience.” His research interests include the emergence of new scientific disciplines and the development of specific concepts of knowledge and objectivity. He has also participated in projects at the intersection of philosophy, literature, and dramaturgy.
