Vernon Lee was the pseudonym of the British writer and essayist Violet Paget (1856–1935). Born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, she became known chiefly for her fantastic literature, including ghost stories and novels. Her notable works include “A Phantom Lover,” “Amour Dure,” and “Prince Alberic and the Snake Lady.”
