Peter Kemper

Peter Kemper (born 1950) is a German journalist and author. He studied philosophy, German studies and social sciences in Marburg and holds a doctorate in philosophy. From 1986 to 2003, he headed the Abendstudio at Hessischer Rundfunk; he subsequently worked as an editor for the hr2 discussion program “Doppel-Kopf” and the Funkkolleg. Until 2015, he was an hr2 radio editor and co-organizer of the German Jazz Festival in Frankfurt. Since 1981, he wrote as a music critic for the features section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He also served as a juror for the German Record Critics’ Award. Kemper has published books on everyday and youth culture as well as musicians including John Coltrane, Eric Clapton and the Beatles.
