Greil Marcus

Greil Marcus, born in San Francisco in 1945, worked as a music critic and author. His books explored rock music and its relationship to American culture and politics. His best-known works include *Mystery Train*, *Lipstick Traces*, *Punk im faschistischen Badezimmer*, *Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone”*, and *The History of Rock ’n’ Roll in Ten Songs*. Marcus contributed to publications including Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Interview, and The New York Times, and taught at institutions including Berkeley and Princeton.
