Willi Winkler, born in 1957, is a German journalist, translator, literary critic, and author. He worked as an editor for Die Zeit and as culture editor at Der Spiegel, and wrote for the Süddeutsche Zeitung. His books include Kissinger & Unseld: The Friendship of Two Survivors, Luther: A German Rebel, Das braune Netz, and Herbstlicht: Eine Wanderung nach Italien. As a translator, he translated works by authors including John Updike, Julian Barnes, Anthony Burgess, and Saul Bellow into German. His work has received several awards, including the Ben-Witter Prize, the Otto Brenner Prize for Critical Journalism, and the Michael Althen Prize.
