Itamar Vieira Junior

Itamar Vieira Junior (born 1979 in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil) is a Brazilian geographer, ethnologist and writer. In his doctoral research, he studied communities descended from formerly enslaved people, also exploring his own family history. He spent several years living among members of these communities. His debut novel, *Crooked Plow* (*Die Stimme meiner Schwester* in German), was shortlisted for the 2024 International Booker Prize.
