Ulrich Noethen (born 1959 in Munich) is a German actor and audiobook narrator. After studying acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, he began his stage career and worked in theatres in Freiburg, Cologne and Berlin. He became widely known through Joseph Vilsmaier’s film “Comedian Harmonists”, for which he received the German Film Award for Best Actor in 1998. His other film and television credits include “Downfall”, “A Coffee in Berlin”, “Hannah Arendt” and “Charité”; he is also known to younger audiences as Mr Taschenbier in the film adaptations of the “Sams” books. In 2017, he received the German Audiobook Prize for Best Performer for his reading of Friedrich Ani’s “Nackter Mann, der brennt”. His other honours include the Adolf Grimme Award, the Bavarian Film Award, the Golden Camera and the German Television Award.
