Norbert Schaeffer

Norbert Schaeffer (1949–2020) was a German radio drama director and adapter. He studied German, sociology and political science at Saarland University and trained as a radio journalist at Saarländischer Rundfunk. From 1983 to 2005, he worked as a freelance radio drama director and adapter. He subsequently headed the radio drama department of Norddeutscher Rundfunk in Hamburg until 2014. For Hörverlag, he directed audio productions including adaptations of Philip Roth’s “The Human Stain” and Orhan Pamuk’s “Snow,” as well as “Schmutzige Wäsche,” produced as part of the “Radio Tatort” series.
