Magnus Brechtken

Magnus Brechtken (born 1964) is a German historian. He earned a doctorate in history from the University of Bonn and taught at the universities of Bayreuth, Munich, and Nottingham. From 2012, he served as deputy director of the Institute of Contemporary History Munich–Berlin and as a professor at the University of Munich. His research focuses on National Socialism, the history of international relations, and the historical impact of political memoirs. His publications include “Albert Speer: A German Career” (2017) and “The Value of History: Ten Lessons for the Present” (2020). “Albert Speer” received the NDR Kultur Sachbuchpreis.
