Franz Mauelshagen

Franz Mauelshagen studied history, philosophy, German studies and law in Bonn. He received his doctorate in Zurich in 2000, where he taught from 2003 to 2008. He subsequently returned to Germany and worked as coordinator of the KlimaKultur research focus at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities in Essen. He also taught history at Bielefeld University. As a historian, he has focused on climate history, the Anthropocene, global environmental history and the history of major transformations.
