Kai Brodersen (born 1958) studied ancient history, classical philology and Protestant theology in Erlangen, Oxford and Munich. He received his doctorate in Munich in 1986 and completed his habilitation there in 1995. From 1996/97, he taught as a professor of ancient history at the University of Mannheim and spent more than ten years in university administration. In 2008, he took up a professorship in ancient culture at the University of Erfurt. His publications address Greek and Roman historiography and geography, ancient inscriptions, oracles and miracle texts, as well as the economic and reception history of antiquity. His works also include bilingual new editions of ancient texts, including Apuleius’ *Herbal Book* and Philostratus’ *Sport in Antiquity*.
