Elisabeth Joris

Elisabeth Joris (born 1946 in Visp) worked as an independent historian in Zurich. From the mid-1990s onward, she held teaching and research appointments at the universities of Zurich, Bern, and Basel. She published numerous articles and several books on the history of women and gender in Switzerland in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Her research topics included work, social movements, migration, kinship, political participation, and tunnel construction.
