Franziska Rogger Kappeler (born 1949 in Lucerne) is a historian and author. She studied history in Bern and Berlin and received her doctorate in 1985. From 1989 to 2010, she headed the Archives of the University of Bern. She also worked as a journalist, designed exhibitions, and carried out research commissions. Her books and studies focus particularly on women’s biographies and women’s history, including the first female students in Bern and Maja Einstein. In 2013, she received the German Biography Prize jointly with Madeleine Herren. Rogger also researched the historical background for a film about pacifist Gertrud Woker and for the multimedia presentation “Hommage 2021” on women’s suffrage and voting rights.
