Anne Canal

Anne von Canal (1973–2022) was a German author and translator. After studying Scandinavian studies and German, she worked for ten years in publishing and as a translator before devoting herself to writing. Her novels include *Der Grund* (2014) and *Whiteout* (2017); she also published the island book *Mein Gotland* (2020). Her literary work received a grant from the German Literature Fund as well as several international residency fellowships. Anne von Canal died of ALS in autumn 2022.
