Thomas Wortmann, born in 1983, is a Germanist and literary scholar. He studied in Bonn, St. Louis, and Cologne, where he received his doctorate in 2014. He subsequently worked as a junior professor and junior lecturer in German studies and media aesthetics at the universities of Tübingen and Mannheim; since 2018, he has been a professor of modern German literature and qualitative media analysis at the University of Mannheim. His research focuses on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature, drama and theatre, genre theory, gender studies, and film. In 2016, he edited Homme fragile: Männlichkeitsentwürfe in den Texten von Heinrich und Thomas Mann.
