Eckart Klessmann

Eckart Kleßmann (1933–?) was a German journalist, writer, and historian. He worked as an editor for the newspapers Die Welt and Die Zeit and became a freelance writer in 1977. His publications include A History of the City of Hamburg, several volumes of poetry, and biographies of figures such as Caroline Schlegel, E. T. A. Hoffmann, Matthias Claudius, Christiane Vulpius, and Georg Philipp Telemann. He received the Irmgard Heilmann Prize in 1989, the honorary gift of the German Schiller Foundation in 1995, and the Lion Feuchtwanger Prize in 1998.
