Sabine Schiffner, born in Bremen in 1965, studied theatre studies, German literature and educational psychology in Cologne. Her work has included acting with the ensemble of the Schauspiel Köln as well as directing, editing and translation. Her debut novel, “Kindbettfieber,” was published by S. Fischer in 2005 and received the Jürgen Ponto Prize. Her poetry collections include “besteck im kopf” (1995), “Dschinn” (2006), “fremdgedanken” (2014) and “super ach” (2018). Her literary work has received several prizes and fellowships, including the Martha Saalfeld Advancement Award in 2004 and the Ehrengabe of the German Schiller Foundation in Weimar in 2014. As a translator and adapter, she has rendered poetry from languages including French and Georgian into German.
