Rolf Haufs (1935–2013) was a German writer and radio journalist. After working as an export merchant for industrial companies in the Rhineland, he moved to West Berlin in 1960. He was a member of Gruppe 47 from 1962 to 1967 and served as literary editor-in-chief at Sender Freies Berlin from 1972 to 1999. Haufs became a member of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin in 1987 and was deputy director of its Literature Section from 1997 to 2009. He was known primarily as a poet, as well as an author of prose, children’s books, and radio plays. His works include “Straße nach Kohlhasenbrück” (1962), “Das Dorf S. und andere Geschichten” (1968), and “Ob ihr’s glaubt oder nicht” (1980).
