Peter Matic

Peter Matić (1937–2019) was an Austrian actor, voice actor, and audiobook narrator. He began his stage career at Vienna’s Theater in der Josefstadt in 1960, followed by engagements in Basel and Munich. From 1972 to 1994, he was a member of Berlin’s State Theatres, and he subsequently joined the ensemble of Vienna’s Burgtheater. In addition to his theatre work, he worked in film, television, and radio. He was also known as the German voice of actor Ben Kingsley. His work as a narrator earned him, among other distinctions, the Albin Skoda Ring in 2001 and the title Kammerschauspieler in 2006. His recording of Marcel Proust’s In Search of Lost Time received the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik and was named Audiobook of the Year.
