Jarka Kubsova

Jarka Kubsova was born in 1977 in what was then Czechoslovakia and has lived in Germany since 1987. After studying sociology and socioeconomics in Hamburg and completing a traineeship at the Financial Times Deutschland, she worked as a journalist for the Financial Times Deutschland, Stern and Die Zeit. She has also worked as a ghostwriter and co-author of several nonfiction books. Her debut novel, Bergland, was published in 2021; she spent seven months living on a farm in South Tyrol while writing it. Her second novel, Marschlande, followed in 2023 and explores the history of the Vier- und Marschlande region.
