Claudia Hamm (born 1969) is a German theatre director, author of plays and essays, and literary translator. She has translated works by Emmanuel Carrère, Mathias Énard, Édouard Levé, Nathalie Quintane, Ivan Jablonka, Joseph Ponthus and Joseph Andras, among others. Her translation of Carrère’s “The Kingdom” was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for Translation and received the 2016 Translation Prize of the Cultural Foundation of the German Economy. Hamm has worked as a theatre director, including at Vienna’s Burgtheater, and was a co-founder of the translationale berlin festival. In 2024, she edited the double issue “Automatensprache” of the literary journal Akzente.
