Jacqueline Montemurri

Jacqueline Montemurri was born in Saxony in 1969. She studied aerospace engineering in Aachen and graduated in 1995 with a degree in engineering. After completing her studies, she began writing short fiction in the speculative genre; she has published novels and stories since 2012. Her debut novel, The Maggan Copy, was nominated for the German Science Fiction Prize in 2013. Her short fiction has appeared in anthologies and in magazines including Exodus and Spektrum der Wissenschaft. In 2020, she received the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis for the story “Colossus from Orbit,” which she later developed into a novel of the same title. She also contributed to the historical fantasy series Karl Mays magischer Orient. Her background in aerospace engineering and her enthusiasm for the far north, particularly Scandinavia, frequently inform her fiction.
