Dayan Kodua was born in Ghana in 1980 and grew up in Kiel, Germany, from the age of ten. After training as a business assistant, she studied acting in Berlin and Los Angeles. She has worked as an actress, voice artist, author, and model, and founded Gratitude Publishing in 2019. In 2014, she published the photobook *My Black Skin: Black. Successful. German.*, which was accompanied by a traveling exhibition and workshops. As a children’s author, she has addressed themes including identity, self-love, and inner strength. Her picture books *Odo* (2019) and *Odo and the Start of a Great Journey* (2021) promote diversity and representation.
