Nicole Gebel was born and raised in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In 2007, her passion for design took her to Kiel, where she studied communication design at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. She subsequently worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. Her childhood near the Baltic Sea was among the influences on her detailed and complex illustrations.
