Benjamin Carter Hett, born in 1965, is an American historian who served as a professor of history at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. After studying law, he initially worked as an attorney before earning a doctorate in history from Harvard University. His research has received several honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Ernst Fraenkel Prize in Contemporary History. In 2018, he published the book “The Death of Democracy: Hitler’s Rise to Power.”
