Thomas Weber

Born in 1963, Thomas Weber is a German media scholar. He studied German, philosophy, and theatre, film and television studies, and earned his doctorate with a study of German television crime dramas. From 1993 to 1998, he was a DAAD lecturer at Groupe HEC near Paris; he subsequently worked, among other positions, at Humboldt University of Berlin and as a lecturer in Bonn. In 2006, he completed his habilitation with a study on mediality. In 2011, he was appointed professor of media studies, specializing in film and television, at the University of Hamburg. His publications include “Die unterhaltsame Aufklärung” (1992) and “Medialität als Grenzerfahrung” (2008).
