Hedwig Richter

Hedwig Richter (born 1973) studied history, German literature and philosophy in Heidelberg, Belfast and Berlin. She received her doctorate in 2008 with a dissertation on the Moravian Church in the GDR and completed her habilitation in Greifswald in 2016. In 2020, she was appointed professor of modern and contemporary history at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. Among other distinctions, she received the Anna Krüger Prize from the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin in 2020. Her book Demokratie. Eine deutsche Affäre (2020) was shortlisted for the Bavarian Book Prize; Aufbruch in die Moderne was published in 2021.
