Andrea Grill, born in Bad Ischl in 1975, is an Austrian biologist, writer and translator from Albanian. She studied biology and languages in Salzburg, Thessaloniki and Tirana and received her doctorate from the University of Amsterdam in 2003 for a dissertation on the butterflies of Sardinia. Her literary work includes novels, poetry, short stories, essays and books for children. Her novel *Cherubino* (2019) was nominated for the German Book Prize. Grill has received, among other distinctions, the Bremen Literature Prize Advancement Award (2011), the City of Vienna Literature Advancement Award (2013) and the Anton Wildgans Prize (2021).
