Nicolas Mahler (born 1969 in Vienna) is a comic artist, illustrator and author. He became known for comics and cartoons published in newspapers and magazines such as Die Zeit, NZZ am Sonntag, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Titanic, as well as for drawn adaptations of classic literature, including works by Thomas Bernhard, Marcel Proust, Robert Musil and James Joyce. His publications also include “Kunsttheorie versus Frau Goldgruber,” “Die Zumutungen der Moderne,” “Thomas Bernhard. Die unkorrekte Biografie” and “Thomas Bernhards Salzburg.” He received the Max and Moritz Award for Best German-Language Comic Artist in 2010, the Literaturhäuser Prize in 2015 and the Sondermann Award in 2019.
