Therese Chromik

Therese Chromik (born 1943 in Liegnitz) grew up in the Lüneburg Heath and studied philosophy, German studies, geography, and art. She subsequently worked as a secondary-school teacher in Husum and Kiel. After the early death of her husband, she began writing intensively. Since 1983, she published 22 books, including volumes of poetry as well as occasional prose and essays. Her literary work received several prizes and fellowships, including the Nikolaus Lenau Prize and the Andreas Gryphius Prize. Three of her poetry collections were published in Poland.
