Anja Kootz

Anja Kootz was born and raised in northern Germany. She studied American studies, modern German literature and cultural studies in Berlin and New York, and lived in Paris for several years. As a translator, she translated picture books, children’s books and graphic novels from French and English into German. In 2011, she was a fellow of the Georges-Arthur-Goldschmidt Programme. Her translation of “Humboldts letzte Reise” was supported by a work grant from the Robert Bosch Stiftung. In the photography series “Plainly Visible – Photographs of Translators,” she portrayed translators from around the world.
